Electric Bikes
A great way to explore the Island
Last week we had the opportunity to go for a ride on an electric bike from Stewart Island Electric Bikes. They are based in the shed on the right at the start of Main Road and run by Pete who does a great job of keeping them road worthy and charged up. Pete has been at us for a while to "have a go" so we could see what all the fuss is about.
We had a pedal assist bike that only engages the motor when you pedal which means you get a better workout plus the motor stops when you stop. We were able to go everywhere and anywhere the had a road and it was an excellent way to see the island.
If you are looking for a way to see the island that is quiet and fun then check out Pete's electric bike shop and grab a bike for a few hours. It is great value and a must do for shaw.
